Thoughts of a Musician on Struggle of Middle East Politics
— My Long Distant View
Below are a few of my observations over the past few years. I write from the perspective of a courageous pacifist. Always have been — never threw a punch! I write “courageous” because I’ve ducked a few while breaking up other people’s brutality. I will defend honor, family and justice!
I also highlight a deep question: How can a country that electrocutes people to death in front of a priest and a roomful of fair witnesses complain about a country where heads are chopped off while making religious pronouncements? Both appear morally repulsive to me. One would think governments formally proclaiming an end to killing would help inspire people not to kill!
In my view, the United States needs to immediately stop its Middle East brinkmanship. America should accept that Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon will likely become aligned into a geopolitical reality.
It is wise to consider that when a nation has left its past in order to form into a secular government it is the better idea not to militarily wipe out those newly-formed secular governments (Iraq, Libya and now Syria) in a belief one can replace them with a better government. It’s not only immoral to attempt this, but using the US military for business profits only is a costly fool’s errand. It’s time to stop doing this!
The economics of trade should rest entirely on the quality of the business conducted and not on whose got the best weaponry to maximize killing people so some fat cat who lives completely out of the region can make deals with a killing in profits.
America should do the honorable thing: Negotiate to help both the Palestinians and Kurds achieve statehood by diplomatic means, completely withdraw militarily from Syria and Iraq and let the region itself determine and rely upon fair and sound business practices based on the needs of its future.
