Syrian-Ukrainian Geopolitical Parallels
— Astonishingly, staunch US-UK voices of Ukrainian brinkmanship act like Syria never existed!
[Question: Is Russian president Vladimir Putin doing to Ukraine what several US presidents already have done with Syria?]
Both Syria and Ukraine underwent calls for a government overthrow around the same time. In each nation legitimate and manufactured rebels were weaponized, street protests organized, military snipers positioned over demonstrators, private mercenary soldiers feathered about, fake aid NGO organizations set up and billions of financial aid directed to whomever would willingly kick a can for regime change.
It didn’t matter you were a terrorist, a Nazi or even an alien— US resources for regime change are like a well never to empty. As a side note, this is why we have a drug war which is a front to make it easy for funneling weapons and drugs to help with supplying and financing regime change operations.
As you can tell by reading the below, America’s political operatives are very good at it!
The Nazi-linked coup in Ukraine succeeded, whereas the al Qaeda/ISIS-linked coup in Syria failed. The Ukrainian coup won out swiftly due to things in general being more sensitive in Europe. More so than in the Middle East where just about anything goes for as long as is needed, including accusations like Saddam once ripped babies off incubators or the WMD, yellowcake fables, etc. The US generals were very proud to present to the media their primetime source named Curveball who played very well to the likes of Fox and CNN, etc.
Also, around this time the US media had become fully monopolized which is why we later got what was to become a rather extraordinary Russiagate tale. With all of the media ombudsmen dismissed and investigative journalism budgets under full control, media consolidation made it very easy to parrot US propaganda from the White House, State Department and the Pentagon — each major media outlet had its own CIA man or woman!
Very sadly, the news in Western journalism no longer is covered … it’s controlled! As we witness today, Ukraine is a perfect example!
Anyway, to save Syria, Russia came to its rescue. Historically, both nations have been closely-aligned. Consider, for decades, Russia used the Syrian naval ports of Lataki and Tartus for repairing and porting its Mediterranean ships. These strategic locations are positioned just ahead of the entrance to Turkey’s Bosporus Straits which leads to where Russia’s infamous Black Sea naval fleet has been ported in Crimea for centuries.
It’s easy to understand why Russia would wanna help Syria. Russia also doesn’t want Syria’s terrorism problem to later spread northward and become a Russian problem, similar to what happened from Afghanistan and the resultant spillover into Russia’s Caucuses region. Russia knew al Qaeda was a bad apple and Putin and his advisers certainly saw the writing on the wall regarding ISIS.
At the invite of Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian government, Iran joined Russia to help defeat al Qaeda and ISIS. Iran also assisted Iraq with the same project. These three nations if left alone to accomplish this objective would prove there’d be no al Qaeda or ISIS present in Syria. But, sadly, there’s a belligerent in the room who won’t leave. A quasi-stalemate persists.
Syria Bogged Down Very Badly by The US
Responsible for setting the table to create the coup in Syria, the US actually hoped al Qaeda and ISIS would help to overthrow the Assad government, long a US goal dating back to Shock and Awe days of Bush-Cheney.
Another belligerent in the room was Turkey’s president Recep Erdogan who had a long running battle with the Syrian and Iraqi Kurds. He claimed his military had to be in Syria to combat encroachment from the Kurds. So not only was the US overtly arming Syrian rebels, Erdogan was instrumental helping smuggle murdered-Libyan leader Murmur Qaddafi’s weaponry from Benghazi, Libya through Turkey into the hands of al Qaeda/ISIS.
Had Russia and Iran not joined the battle, the Syrian coup — which had captured over two-thirds of Syrian land — would have succeeded. Instead, the Syrian Arab Army, with its allies, easily recaptured all of Syria’s land except that which was under US, Israeli or Turkish influence. Herein, lies the rub as both al Qaeda and ISIS forces have been kept or hidden within these control zones.
US Steals Syria’s Oil
Turkey, which took in lots of Syrian refugees fleeing the war zones, controls Syria’s Idlib Province where it wants to return the refugees, but only under Turkey’s own conditions. This, in effect, becomes a stalemate excuse by which to harbor al-Qaeda’s fighting forces within Syria while also sometimes enlisting some of them as mercenaries for its own warring purposes in places like Libya, Qatar or Azerbaijan. is situated and also areas 10 miles inside the Syrian-Turkish border
The US controls nearly all of Syria’s northeastern side of the Euphrates River, an extensive land area where most of Syria’s oil industry is positioned and where most the country’s wheat fields are located. This enables the US to tighten the economic screws upon the Assad government, hoping to starve enough Syrians that they’ll finally overthrow the government.
The US also made a deal with the Turks, ceding to their fear of the Kurds, by enabling Turkey to expand its southern border by 10 miles into Syrian territory. Erdogan, who plays good cop/bad cop with just about everybody — especially the Russians over geopolitical positioning and the US over NATO — seems to have no intention on letting Assad gain his nation back. Erdogan, of course, is filled with pipedreams of reestablishing the once power Ottomon Empire. Meanwhile, throughout it all, the US protects the Kurds from the Turks and uses the Kurds to challenge the Syrians
So, to the northeast — with some help from Turkey — the US controls Syria’s oil and wheat production. Under US control, Syria’s oil has been selling on the black market with smuggling help from Turkey. It has been alleged the US has burned many of the wheat fields to deprive the Syrians. As if the US economic policy of sanctions against Syria is not enough, the US generally treats Syrians like second basemen or shortstops who were on the receiving end of a Ty Cobb slide while stealing a base.
Very cruel!
US Blocks the Damascus-Baghdad International Highway
To make matters worse, since the beginning of the conflict, the US built the Rukban Refugee Camp and has been using it as a claim for providing refugee support while also claiming that holding this territory is key to fighting ISIS. Thus, the US has blocked off the Damascus-Baghdad International Highway at the Syrian-Iraq border. This effectively blocks Syria’s trade options while also enabling use of the remote geographical area in order to hide ISIS so it can continue surprise regional attacks against the Syrian Arab Army.
By blocking this crucial highway, the US is trying to force the Syrian people to overthrow their government. What’s also sick about this condition is the folks forced to live within the Rukban Camp are on record of wanting to return to their homes … but the US won’t let them!
US & Israel, Stole Water & Oil from Syria’s Golan Heights
If ever there were a worst example of a Marvel Villain Team-Up, such a realistic comic book issue would include the US in bed with all villains, whether dictators, corrupt bankers, defense contractors, chemical manufacturers, mercenary soldiers, drug or weapons smugglers or the most common low-down petty thief.
For decades, the US has geopolitically situated its military in third world nations and has gotten into bed with rapists of oil, diamonds, gold, silver, copper, tin, timber, rubber, lithium, cobalt and the list goes on. One would become astonished to learn the amount of wealth that’s been extracted out of Africa compared to the amount of loan money put into the impoverished nations. From a humanitarian point of view? It’s pitiful!
So, in Syria’s southern portion of its integral borders, the Syrians find the US tucked deep in bed with the Israelis! The GOPwinger Trump Administration gave Israel the okay once and for all to completely take Syria’s Golan Heights territory and do with it what it wished. Trump even went to far as to force the geographical map makers to change the Golan name from Syrian-owned to Israeli-owned. This action totally by-passed the work of the UN which has ruled the land continues as Syrian-owned.
So What Should Russia Do in Ukraine?
Below is a remarkable possibility!
