Notwithstanding Obama’s intended role as placeholder president — this while keeping Hillary Clinton in play as Secretary of State — one can better understand how and why we ended up with Trump.
The center politic of America’s belly had become so fat and so opulent with oligarchy that only a far-lefty or a far-righty could change the political dynamic of the US presidency. Of course, the rightwing Trump — owner of hotels, casinos and golf courses far and wide — who most resembled the celebrity status of Reagan, got the nod while lefty Bernie Sanders and America’s working people got the shaft!
Imagine. We could have had — we should have had! — Bernie Sanders as the rebellious choice of Americans! But America’s money-grubbers wouldn’t allow it. Hence, we got the rightwing billionaire Trump who only pretended to love Americans … he loves money way more!
Anyway, the story is there for those who wish to seek it and understand what happened in America. One can start by checking how military and healthcare spending, supported by big banking, pretty much has gobbled the whole of the pie, how Americans are forced into debt and how a monopolized media preserves this condition. Even academia has been hoodwinked!
Our middle class continues its collapse and poor folk are left to fend for themselves to survive in what’s essentially become, for them, an underground economy festered on petty drug sales, scratch tickets and gang-like gratification. Football and UFC fighting seems to have supplanted baseball as America’s past time. Rebranded gladiator pits are back in style as Americans now teach their kids not to share, but to fight!
Musicians and artists have given up on any thought of influence or of making money. Writers have become like “hey, buddy have you got a dime?” And the poetry goes unappreciated, unread and unheard unless it’s conduced into rap!
